Why are espeon and umbreon always together?

They both come from the same line, have the same egg group so they can come together and breed Eevee eggs. It also has to be noted that these Pokemon are counterparts to each other. Umbreon is the Pokemon of the Night, representing the moon and Espeon is the Sun Pokemon.

Depends on what you'll be using both of them for. For Great Battle PVP Umbreon is better since Espeon is way too fragile and outclassed by other Psychic type Pokemon (Uxie!).

Why did my eevee evolve into sylveon instead of umbreon?
If Eevee knew a Fairy-type move, it would always evolve into Sylveon. If it didn't know a Fairy-type move, it would evolve into either Espeon or Sylveon depending on the time of day.
