How do you revive a 2 player cuphead?

When playing in co-op mode, if one player dies and another has more than 1 life; the alive player can parry something while the dead player presses their pause button (esc/start). One of the alive player's lives will transfer to the dead player, who will gain a life. Thank you squishy!
