Emulating is… difficult. The structure the N64 is built off of is rather complex, and it's proprietary and not standard. Therefore, it's not a 1-to-1 correspondence for hardware requirements. The N64, believe it or not, isn't even at perfect software emulation, much less efficient perfect software emulation.
