How do you stop sprinting in gta?

Hold back/reverse button + tap sprint. Sometimes takes a couple seconds to switch depending on speed/slope, but it works. I found the most effective method was remapping the key, something about caps lock makes the system go funky, i mapped it to my mouse and it worked as intended.
