Is light armor better in skyrim?

Light armor is actually much better than heavy armor. The reason being that armor is capped at 564 armor rating (80% physical damage reduction) after that you receive no benefit from a higher armor rating. It's really not difficult to get light armor to this rating, using a mixture of enchanting, alchemy, and smithing.
