The game will send you back to your last free roam save after you complete the final story mission. You'll be told that there's no going back to free roaming after a certain point and that's when the save file will be created.

It at least needs us to have a GPU with 3gb memory and 8gb RAM with a processor no less than i5 3570K or AMD FX-8310. You can play this game on a HDD but for zero lags and playable FPS you need SSD. This was for lowest setting.

Does witcher 3 let you play after ending?
Once you beat the main game, a new game+ is allowed for harder enemies. You can still explore the game once the main questline ends though, if you missed any hidden secrets or sidequests.
