How big is gta v map compared to real life?
It's supposedly 50 sq miles (according to google) so really not that big. Compared to a real life place, it's slightly bigger than San Francisco which is 47 sq miles. how is it messed up? just assume the online characters are like 5'10 and use that to measure. has nothing to do with scaling.

Is lost island worth it?
Lost Island isn't a bad choice. Temperate and fairly easy, with several ruins to explore, but not much in the way of caves, beyond tunnels with glowy crystals here and there. If you count unique biomes towards exploration, Crystal Isles has a ton of those, but very little in the way of caves or ruins.
