Does the PS5 need a 4k TV, or is a 1080p TV enough? It looks like the PS5 needs at a minimum a 720p TV, so 1080p will work just fine. That being said, you will not be able to enjoy the higher resolution visuals of the “Resolution Mode” of each game.

Even if it's 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 (2K WHQD) or the full 4K, it should have AT LEAST 120Hz refresh rate. So for a new PC or the upcoming PlayStation 5, if these are your choices, I would recommend 1080p 144Hz monitor. If possible, buy a 2K (2560x1440) 144Hz monitor, but 1080p will do just fine.
