Do baby dinos level up?

Baby dino levels are a sum of their stats. So if you have two rexes, one with ten levels in HP and ten in melee, and another with just one level in both HP and melee - The baby could inherit both the lower stats, in which case it's level will be 2. Or it could inherit the higher, so it's level will be 20.
