Depends on the computer. If it is a laptop I wouldn't leave it plugged in, unless you want to ruin the battery. If it was a desktop then sure, but I would recommend having surge protector even a battery backup with surge protector as well (even for laptops) so that way you wouldn't risk frying or bricking them.
