Do you need 240fps?

Ideally, you'll want to output at a frame rate of 240 FPS, though dips into the low 200s aren't a problem with G-Sync or FreeSync turned on. Playing a game at 60 FPS on a 240Hz monitor is not a problem, but won't be much smoother or more responsive than a quality 60Hz monitor.

Can rtx 3090 run 4k 240fps?
Its aim (at least in marketing) was to hit playable framerates at 8k. A lot of somewhat-demanding games will get 100+ fps at 4K with high or even max settings, but definitely not 240, unless maybe if it's an esports title or something that's unusually well-optimised like the DOOM series.

Does 240fps matter?
For each “step” in the animation at 60FPS/Hz, there are 4 “steps” at 240FPS/Hz. These extra steps fill in the motion, making 240 FPS/Hz feel much smoother. At 240 FPS/Hz, there are 3 additional frames of information for your eyes to see in the same amount of time. Smoother animations help you track your target.
